Tropes vs. Women: The Straw Feminist

The Straw Feminist trope is a deliberately created, exaggerated caricature of a feminist that is used to undermine and ridicule feminist movements.

“The Straw Feminist is set up to perpetuate and advance the myth that feminism is no longer needed, that we have arrived at gender equality and anyone who disagrees is quickly demeaned and portrayed as an extremist.”

Feminist Frequency always delivers articulate and strong videos dissecting and analyzing pop culture.

Well I guess I should say something..

Shouldnt I? I left my normal tumblr a little forlorn and unused. Sorry I guess.

I am worried sick that my prom dress wont show up on time! I hate to say that - it is unusual of me to give two fucks but I do - its a really pretty dress! Honestly.

I agree with a lot of things John Green says. But not this. You do not love a person as much as this statement implies if you miss them more and like them more when they aren’t around than when they are there with you. I grew up in a seperate country from my extended family, then I moved here, to my extended family, now I live in a seperate country from my father. I don’t miss him. Not in that constant home sick kind of way. I’ll always want him to be here with me. But I love him and I know that in that sense he will be here with me. Not because of my love for him, but his love for me. I love him more when he is around, I care more when he is around. When he is in another country I have to put that love under a rock and wait to see him again. So no. I dont miss my Dad more than I love him. And that will never be true. I love my Dad more than I will ever miss him. And I am proud of that.

I will be as harsh as truth, and as uncompromising as justice. On this subject, I do not wish to think, or to speak, or write, with moderation. I am in earnest – I will not equivocate – I will not excuse – I will not retreat a single inch – and I will be heard.
